The Neo Geo CD was released in 1994, four years after its cartridge-based equivalent, in an effort to reduce manufacturing costs. The system was originally priced at US$300 new. The unit's 1X CD-ROM drive was quite slow, making loading times very long with the system loading up to 56 Mbit of data between loads. Neo Geo CD game prices were lowered to a reasonable $50 as opposed to the usual cost for AES game cartridges, sometimes upwards of $300. The system could be used to play Audio CDs.
The Neo Geo CD comes with a control pad instead of the joystick that is in other Neo Geo systems. This made the controls more stiff and caused some difficulty in play if one was used to the joystick.
Ultimately, the Neo Geo CD was considered poor, mainly because of the lack of marketing and the long load times.

Let me start my review by saying, the Neo Geo CD is the BEST VIDEO GAME CONSOLE EVER. It is 2-Player, and is fun to play with friends. The controllers are very comfortable in your hands. They use a Control Pad instead of a D-Pad or Joystick, making gameplay much better than other systems. It has a great library of games, such as Fatal Fury 3, Driver, King of Fighters 99, and Puzzle Bobble. It can display 4,096 colors at a time on the screen! They are only about $100 on eBay! You should get one, you won't regret it!

Its good for about 30$ but not any more than that. The image quality is pretty terrible, but again, for 30$ your not getting a lilliput TFT.
Flickering is very poor and noise from the inverter can be a problem. The ones made specifically for the game consoles by joytech and logitech are better but they aren't under 100$ either.
But saying this is a high resolution lcd is just laughable. Sound is good though!

This is a great product. It is extremely versatile. Although, it does not include any game(ing) accessories of its own, it can be utilized by, just about, any VCR, DVD, PS2, Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo, Super N2, Game Cube, XBox that has an RCA hook up. It has great portability, as well, being lightweight but sturdy. It is great for parents and children, alike, on the go. A child, sibling, and the parents can ride easier (and quieter) with a Game System in front of them, with the headset attachment utilized. I know.
